MORE than a mile of the A48 through Stroat, between Lydney and Chepstow, is to be resurfaced.

The work will mean the road between Tidenham Quarry and Wibdon Farm will be closed from 7pm until 7am every night between Thursday, September 6 and Thursday, September 20.

The official diversion for heavy vehicles is from Lydney through Coleford and Staunton and Monmouth to join the A449 to the outskirts of Newport and the M4 or A48 to Chepstow.

County councillor Patrick Molyneux (Con, Sedbury) said: “The A48 in the Forest is used by thousands of vehicles every day, so it’s essential it stays in good condition.

“The disruption will be worth it in the long run.”
