WHILE taking my poppy tin around Lydney I came to a house where an elderly man lived. I could remember him smart and tidy taking his wife out every Sunday evening to the old Feather's Hotel.

But since his wife's death he has not been the same.

What can I do, I thought? I went to Age Concern in Lydney. Within days the man was smart and trimmed, his house clean and tidy.

I noticed he was smiling while being taken shopping.

Many, many times since,?Age Concern has helped in our work for Lydney Royal British Legion. Sadly I now understand they may close and staff will be jobless.

This, I feel, is so wrong.
