PROPOSALS for a new store for discount food retailer Aldi in Coleford will be unveiled tomorrow (Thursday).

The plans for a new neighbourhood food store on vacant land between Tufthorn Avenue and Arthur Cooper Way, will be unveiled in a public exhibition at the Main Place in Old Station Way between 4pm and 8pm.

It is understood the 1,254sqm store would create 40 new full and part-time jobs.

A spokesperson for Aldi said: "We are keen to see the development potential of this site fully realised through a brand new store, which will not only complement the existing offering in the town, but will also provide local people with access to a premium deep discount retailer.

"With the site having previously been recognised by the council as suitable for development, we consider our proposals present an excellent opportunity to see these earlier aspirations achieved through an appropriate and beneficial scheme."
