IT is difficult to believe Mrs Clarke's lecture warranted so much space in your newspaper last week but her company must be very desperate to threaten objectors with legal action and take out an expensive advert to implore people to support her projects. There are many ways of including the community in saving energy, addressing climate change and renewable energy, but plonking a huge turbine in Aylburton is the least effective way of doing it. The legacy of the Resilience approach will be to alienate people from green issues for many years to come.

The community has a right to pass judgement on proposals such as the Resilience plans for Alvington Court, Nurshill Farm, Plusterwine and Severndale which threaten the integrity of the landscape for little benefit except profit for Resilience and their investors.

In the context of a planning process that collects views of the community, stakeholders and environmental bodies, the council have collected their evidence and the vast majority of the community in the villages, their parish councils and the most important landowner and employer in the area, Lydney Park Estate, are all objecting to the turbine.

The planning committee of the council have these responses and professional evidence to consider in determining the way forward and Mrs Clarke's buying space in newspapers, imploring support and lashing out at objectors will not change this. The rantings of Mrs Clarke give a much better picture of her motives than the drawings of her turbines ever did.

On a more serious note her threat to take legal action against objectors has the potential to inhibit ordinary people participating in the planning process and we hope those responsible for it will note that.

Before anyone writes to the Review on Mrs Clarke's behalf please can I remind them that she and her husband have personalised this debate from the beginning by promoting themselves and their aims in the press. They have used financial, moral and now threat of legal sanctions to take forward a plan that serves their own financial interests.
