THE word that sums up Colin Henderson's view of this Division Three South match is 'disappointed'.
"We got ourselves into a winning position but then we gave it away," he said, not wishing to lay blame at anyone's feet because Lydney really did try to break Henley's late grip on the game. It wasn't to be.
"But it was a game we really should have won and we started so well that it was doubly disappointing to let it slip," he said.
However, with five games left Henderson remains optimistic.
"We can do it. We have the will and the way," he said.
A three-minute try from Henley gave Lydney the shock they needed to get a move on, Mark Davies claiming five penalties in one short spell before a try from Tony Wicks saw the home team ahead at the interval by 14-7.
Henley got another break with a try but it was again Mark Davies who kept the points in Lydney's favour. A Pete Davies try and Wells conversion put Henley just a point behind and Lydney was in real trouble with another converted Flammia try.
Now trailing 20-26 and with six minutes to go Lydney won a series of five-metre lineouts and scrums but Henley's defence starved them of a comeback.
