'ALLO, 'allo, 'allo! What's going on here then? Looks like a fair cop as Simon Evans of Hale and Co, the Drybrook builders merchants, is asked to come along quietly...
He won't of course, because he's busy arranging a titanic football clash between a Hales team of fairly regular players and the Forest police force – all in aid of the Help for Heroes forces charity.
It all comes to a head on April 24 at Cinderford FC's Causeway football ground. After a 2pm kick off a super day of family fun is promised, with half-time fun, and drinks, a barbecue and a big auction to follow plus live music from up-and-coming Forest band Pandemick.
Entry is just £2 for adults with under-15s free, and all money taken will go to the charity.
"I can guarantee everyone will have a good time," said Simon.
How did he rate the opposition? "I think they're pretty good and we've played them a few times. But I don't think they've ever beaten us."
So that will be a trophy win then?
"It's got our name on it – Hales," said Simon.
