MIKE Meredith Edwards gives details of his garden being ruined by boar.
Two weeks ago on a Saturday morning at around 10am I was alone, walking my three Staffordshire bull terriers through woods when out of nowhere a boar came running after one of my dogs. When I began to run away and call my dogs it chased me.
One of my dogs was not scared by the boar and managed to divert the animal away and back into the woods. Then there was a stand-off, with neither of the animals moving, but just staring at each other. Luckily, my dog is not nasty.
Yes, boar are getting more confident and do approach humans and dogs. However, it is a bit drastic to want them culled as they are actually tame and just protecting their young just as we would.
Yes, they should be kept down but we should be aware that when they are all gone some will be wishing will still had them. Unfortunately they wrecked a garden and we should be aware they do roam free. My dogs and I were lucky and next time we may not be. But I would not want the boar killed just because they dig up grass.
