HER Majesty's Verderers of the Forest of Dean have planted an English oak tree to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee.
The Jubilee year planting took place in woodlands opposite Speech House just before the start of the Verderers' Court on Friday.
Forest of Dean Deputy Surveyor Kevin Stannard said: "It will be known as the Diamond Oak and it is just below the row of Royal Oaks – one of which was planted by Queen Victoria, one by The Queen in 1957, and one by the Duke of Edinburgh later that year.
"The plaque will read: 'Planted by Her Majesty the Queen's Verderers to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, April 13 2012'."
