FOUR years ago Marlene Howes was so moved by a Review report about a box full of abandoned kittens that she adopted two of them.
And now the part-Persian daughter of one of the rescue kittens has walked away with a top title in the cat show world – Supreme Olympian Grand Master.
Sugar and Spice – Sugar for short – won six gold best in shows on her way to take the title at an event in Bracknell, Berkshire on Saturday.
"That makes her the top cat in Britain," said Marlene, who has won many titles with her cats and is campaigning to stop Persians becoming bred with flatter and flatter faces, which she thinks is harmful to the animals.
And she certainly knows her stuff with the breed – a kitten she took along to Bracknell, Honeymist Mystic Gem, won the Best Persian Kitten in Show award.
