MEMBERS and friends of a small Forest chapel came up with a tasty way of marking a landmark anniversary.
The 150th anniversary of the first stone being laid at Clements End chapel near Coleford was on Saturday, August 10 – and a pudding evening was held to celebrate.
Members and visitors brought along traditional treats such as rice pudding and spotted dick which went alongside others such as cheesecakes and pavlovas.
Around 90 people supported the evening which raised some £610 for the chapel.
Chapel treasurer Ange Allcock said: “It was a very successful and enjoyable evening.
“It was the 150th anniversary of the first stone being laid at the chapel on August 10 so we decided to have a pudding evening to celebrate.”
The first service was held at the chapel on March 27 1870 and there are plans to celebrate that landmark too.
Mrs Allcock is putting together a booklet of memories of the chapel and is appealing for any old photographs of former members.
The chapel has a collection of photographs and is planning an evening to invite people to come along and help identify the worshippers in the photos.
If you have any pictures of the chapel, Mrs Allcock can be contacted on 01594 564567.
