AN 11-year-old boy and a 42-year-old man died in a car crash in Chepstow on Friday afternoon.

They have been named as Harrison Marshall and Ryan Griffiths who were both from Chepstow.

Gwent Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident on the A466 Wye Valley link road at 4.37pm last Friday (September 6).

They are particularly keen to talk to a cyclist who they believe may have vital information about the accident.

A Gwent Police spokesman said: "The collision involved two vehicles – a black Vauxhall Corsa and a blue coloured saloon.

"Tragically two people have died as a result of their injuries. The driver of the blue saloon, a man from the Chepstow area, and an 11-year-old boy from the Chepstow area who was travelling in the Corsa.

"The other occupants of the Corsa, two females, received minor injuries.

Family Liaison officers are providing support to both families at this very difficult time."

Emergency services including fire engines from Chepstow and Newport, ambulance, air ambulance and Police dealt with the incident and officers are still investigating the circumstances.

The police spokesman added: "Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to ring 101 quoting log 393 06/09/13.

"Officers are particularly keen to speak to a cyclist who was travelling towards Chepstow and was in the vicinity at the time of the collision."

Tributes to Harrison, who was known as Harry, were placed at the roadside over the weekend.
