AN apprentice with Two Rivers Housing has taken a further step up the career ladder, at the same time opening the way for another learner to make a start.
Hannah Farrugia, from Mitcheldean, who only joined the organisation when she completed her A-levels in the summer of 2007, has just been appointed as executive assistant to chief executive Garry King.
And now the homes and communities organisation is advertising for another youngster to step into her shoes.
Garry said Hannah had proved that the apprentice scheme can really pay off.
"Hannah has really shown what you can achieve through the apprenticeship scheme. She came in as an apprentice administrator, and has worked on a really amazingly wide range of projects that have made a real difference to the lives of our 3,800 tenants across Gloucestershire and Herefordshire," he said.
Hannah is also now progressing in her career with a place on a prestigious degree course in Business Management and Strategy at Gloucestershire University.
"Two Rivers is a community organisation which delivers for local people. And that includes the people we employ. We really believe in growing local employment, ensuring people can work locally and support the community they grew up in," said Mr King.
The organisation has two other apprentices on its books at present, with Georgina Kelly from Mitcheldean working in the Human Resources section and Jemma Dowle from Bream in the Customer Services team.
"And now we are looking for a new apprentice to work with Hannah. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and determination to succeed like she has done. You will be keen to learn all aspects of administration and have an aspiration for a future career in Business Management," said Mr King.
"Completing an apprenticeship is a great way to gain practical work experience, develop your skills and knowledge, achieve nationally recognised qualifications and earn a real wage. To apply you need to have at least 4 GCSE A-C level passes, including Maths and English."
The Closing date for applications is July 1.
