THE New Model Army will be storming Chepstow Castle this summer at the climax to 11 nights of musical mayhem.

The 950-year-old castle will be rocking to the post-punk folk rock legends on Bank Holiday Monday, August 27, as part of the annual Castell Roc festival from August 17 to 28.

Monsters of Rock launches the event on Thursday, August 17, with tribute bands Hells Bells, The Bon Jovi Experience and The UK Guns ‘N’ Roses.

Friday, August 18, sees Red Dwarf and Coronation Street actor and BBC Radio 6 DJ Craig Charles bring his Funk and Soul Show to the Wye Valley, followed on Saturday, August 19, by The Magic of Motown.

Sunday, August 20, headliners, with Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton tribute Islands in the Stream following on Wednesday, August 23.

Billed as “It’s Phoney Rock and Roll’, The Counterfeit Stones promise Satisfaction in a “mockumentary” of Jagger and Co on Thursday, August 24, before BFG – the Big Fake gathering – rolls in on Friday, August 24, with tribute bands Antarctic Monkeys, The Killerz and The Oasis Experience.

The Quireboys are joined by two other top British bands, FM and Gun, on Saturday, August 25, before ‘the King’ visits the castle on Sunday, August 26, in the form of Elvis tribute Ben Portsmouth.

And New Model Army will wrap it all up on Bank Holiday Monday, backed by blues/rock trio Willie and the Bandits.
