POLICE who issued a nationwide search for a suspect with Mitcheldean connections on Tuesday said they had arrested a 23-year-old man in Pucklechurch, near Bristol.

On Monday police had asked for the public across Britain to help them locate Sahin Tuncel in connection with an incident which took place in Pound Road, Kings­wood, Bristol on Monday 30 May 2011. At around 9.45pm a man was violently assaulted and left with serious injuries which required treatment at the intensive care unit at Frenchay hospital.

Sahin who is of Turkish origin has many links to Bristol, Glou­cester, Gwent, South Wales, the West Midlands and North London as well as Mitch­el­dean.

Bilhan Tuncel, from Mitcheldean, has already appeared in court in Bristol charged with attempted murder in connection with the alleged honour incident and is being held on remand for trial at a future date.
