In a remarkable fund raising project a huge list of celebrities and well known people have offered autographed pictures, signed books and articles from ties to tee-shirts.
There's a signed pen from the Prime Minister, a soft toy from his wife, a signed cricket bat from John Major and a signed 1988 British Olympic team tie from Sir Henry Cooper.
And that's not all.
Sports personalities by the score have made donations.
There's a signed copy of Alan Shearer's book 'My Story So Far', and loads of signed photographs including contributions from David Beckham, Michael Owen, Sally Gunnell and Ray Clemence.
And there are also items signed by Victoria Beckham, Chris Bonnington, Terry Wogan, Lord Healy, Jilly Cooper and Susan Hampshire. Plus, of course, all the actors from Eastenders and Emmerdale.
Behind the remarkable auction is church treasurer Joan Davies and even she can't believe how generous people have been.
The church is starting a massive £60,000 refurbishment programme and so far there is £27,000 in the kitty.
Joan set about sending off over 500 letters to personalities and had the shock of her life when the replies started to return.
"It was a thrill to hear from Ursula Howells who wrote about her Lydney connections and sent an attractive scarf, and from people like Lord Healy, Lord Hesltine, Nerys Hughes and Rannulph Feinnes.
"I have written back to them all to thank them personally for their contributions. It is much more than we even expected," she said.
"We are thrilled to bits so many people have offered their help. It has created such a lot of interest and, we hope, will raise a lot of money," she said.
The auction is being held over a month and in a new way – over the internet.
The items are being listed at http://www.freewebs">www.freewebs. com/lydneyurc or http://www.999lydney.com.uk">www.999lydney.com.uk. Browsers are invited to send in a bid and the highest offer after four weeks will be successful.
