SWAN LAKE, performed by the famous Russian Bolshoi ballet company, will be screened live at the Drill Hall in Chepstow on Sunday afternoon, with funds raised going to Chepstow Museum.

Curator, Anne Rainsbury, said: “Swan Lake’s dramatic tale of love, deceit and drama has become one of the world’s best loved ballets.  The great legend of the enigmatic woman transformed by a curse into a swan, is one of the most romantic classical ballets and the Bolshoi’s spellbinding production is a magical masterpiece. The Bolshoi premiered the ballet, withTchaikovsky’s lyrical score, 130 years ago in 1887.”

“This is part of a programme of live broadcasts of Bolshoi ballet classics being staged by Chepstow Museum as part of its fundraising activities, with the aim of making these screenings of world class ballet accessible to young ballet lovers on a day and at a time when they can enjoy them too.

“A Sunday afternoon matinee performance is a great opportunity for fans of all ages to go to the ballet together.”
