STAFF at a Ross-on-Wye bank created a live Nativity outside the branch featuring Mo the donkey and friends.

The Nativity and a cake sale at NatWest in Market Square was held to raise money for Hope Services, the Ross-based charity that supports young people when a family member has a life-threatening condition.

As well as staff dressed as characters from the Christmas story the scene also featured Mo – or Moses to give him his full name – and Peter the donkey and Lola the dog who came along with owner Charlotte Sullivan.

Mo became something of a celebrity after escorting Charlotte up the aisle when she married husband Matthew.

He has appeared on TV with Alan Titchmarsh and even has his own Twitter account and Facebook page.

Debbie Hutchinson of NatWest: “For a whole year I’ve wanted to do a Nativity theme and I know Charlotte and Mo.

“It’s a bit eccentric but we do a lot for charity and so we decided to have a cake sale and bring along Charlotte and Mo and his friends.”

Charlotte added: “Hope Services do fantastic work with young people at a very difficult time for them and I’m very happy to help.”

Lorna Russell, Hope’s administrator, Lorna Russell, said: “It’s lovely that people go out of their way for us.”
