THE local 'building site' singing group phenomenon Cheek has developed a special show which is to get an airing on July 3 and 4 in the Chepstow Festival.

The group, which shot to national fame with singles Builder's Bum and Builder's Ballad, has been working hard on Builders on Broadway.

Their publicity shots describe the show as "a new type of description-defying entertainment ... perhaps a cross between the Rocky Horror Show, Stomp, Chorus Line and The Plank".

It continues: "Building contractors Cheek – Sparky, Bloody, Flash, Ginger, hairy and Crazy – are the despair of their foreman, Boss Cheek. They are absolutely useless at building but great at singing and dancing.

"To make matters worse four slinky females, The Cheekettes, tease and distract the guys from a bus stop."

According to the organisers experienced theatre people are saying the show could go all the way to the West End, so the festival performances in Chepstow's Drill Hall will be a chance to be in at the beginning of a national success.
