NEARLY 100 dogs entertained visitors at the Elton Giant Mazes annual It's a Dogs Day on Sunday (August 18).
A crowd of more than 300 people watched the dogs participate in the main show and novelty dog show, where the judge Joanna Moakes, from Elton, was faced at times with classes of some 30 to 50 dogs.
This year the show raised £350 for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Co-manager of the event, Brian Griffin said: "We had such a wonderful day, the show raised a record-breaking amount and the charity's stall alone took more than £100.
"The best in show was a pointer named Posy, showed by Lynette Knowles, from Llangrove, who also won best in show last year with Alice, who is Posy's mum. The dog show was sponsored by Pets Barn Vets who gave a demo on dog dentition and vaccination which was followed by a dog grooming demo from Groom-a Dog.
"The interval in the dog show was filled by a display of gun dog training by Annie Wales, from Popes Hill, whose four gun dogs gave their first display in front of a live audience retrieving various hidden objects on command.
"We are grateful to everybody who came along to support the day and more importantly a worthy dogs charity."
