TRAILING by 19 points and, by their own admittance, "all at sea" Berry Hill staged a remarkable second-half recovery to rule the waves at Lakers Road. But it was almost a sinking!

Widden scored late on and it was question of all hands to the pumps, admitted veteran Lee Osborne who was a second-half replacement.

With two league defeats already and confidence dented, Berry Hill were slow to start against their Gloucester opponents.

"It was not because they were that good, but because we were that poor. We were all over the place defensively," admitted Osborne.

In next to no time Berry Hill were 19 points behind, though they did recover some ground with an unconverted try by Aaron Ryder.

"Fortunately the second-half began really well. We scored straight from the kick-off and after that we improved rapidly. We just got better and better. It was a good team effort and one on which I hope we can improve though it was very close at the end," he said.

Young prop Dan Lewis scored two tries and Sean McRoberts picked up another with Aaron Ryder kicking two penalty goals and a conversion.

Osborne was full of praise for the efforts of prop forward Dan Lewis who is rapidly making his mark after playing for the United team.

"He is learning quickly and I hope he turns out to be the find of the season," he said.

Back-rower Richard Hobbs was another to impress and Osborne said his ball carrying did much to knock the stuffing out of the Old Boys in the second-half.
