THE presenter of BBC Countryfile is opening the new Monmouthshire Livestock Centre this Friday (November 29).

The market, which has been built on a 27 acre site near Raglan, will be unveiled by Adam Henson at 11am and begin operating before the end of the year. It will allow the redevelopment of the current livestock market in Abergavenny to kick start the promised redevelopment of the town.

Cllr Bob Greenland, Monmouthshire County Council's deputy leader and cabinet member with responsibility for regeneration, said: "I'm delighted that the work on the project to build the promised replacement livestock market for Monmouthshire has run to schedule and that the market will open in late autumn, as we promised.

"The first sales will be held there before the end of the year."
