MY wife and I were taking a walk recently on the Beachley peninsula, after parking under the old Severn Bridge, near the SARA Rescue Station. We crossed the stile and proceeded up the roadway towards the electricity pylon. As soon as we set foot on the other side of the stile we were soon made aware of a most unpleasant smell. After a few more yards of walking it became apparent what that this disgusting smell was dog excrement, which more or less covered the road in various places all along this stretch.

Although I have no objections to people exercising their dogs in this or any other area, I do believe they ought to dispose of this horrible mess in the correct manner so that we can all enjoy this area without having to dodge dog droppings.

Perhaps Gloucestershire County Council could help by putting a dog loo there, or is everybody happy to allow this unhygienic practice to go on and make this area a dumping ground for our canine friends?– R. J. Wyson, Elan Way, Caldicot.
