I have never written to a newspaper before but feel compelled to, following last week's letter headed "Bathed in light", obviously W. Wylde doesn't read the local papers. Earlier last year a large quantity of lead was stolen from the roof of The Heart of the Forest Community Special School (Dean Hall closed in July 2005).

Unfortunately, we appear to live in an age where there are no morals or scruples, and thieves are prepared to target our most vulnerable members of society. This school provides the best care and education possible. That is reflected in their OFSTED report during May 2007.

Please don't criticise the lighting (which is of the low-energy type anyway). We need to support any effort made to deter would-be criminals. – Liz Madge, Owl's Eye Close, Mile End, Coleford.
