THOSE motorcycle lads and lasses who descended in hordes on Chepstow a couple of weeks back have done local charities proud.

The Hoggin' the Bridge Club, now in their second year of running the event, say this year has broken all previous records.

A total of just under 3,000 bikes roaring across the Severn bridge and into town all helped to raise a staggering £17,500.

A spokesperson for the club said that once again they were overwhelmed by the support they received, not just from other clubs and organisations but the local people who once again turned out in their hundreds to show their support.

"With a great selection of bands, stalls and food in abundance at Chepstow, coupled with glorious weather, this really was a day to savour," said a spokesman.

The club is now busy with plans for 2012 and can confirm that the date for next year's ride is October 21.
