NUMEROUS economic predictions have been made for and against Britain remaining in the EU with all the fervour of a clairvoyant. 

Perhaps the one most likely to be correct is that there are always economies of scale.   

But there is also a bigger picture and it is this:  the age of sending a gunboat, of Britain-stands alone and similar ideas is over. 

To make an impact in the world of superpowers like the USA and China, and to deal with the global challenges we face, we need to club together.

We don’t lose sovereignty, we pool it. 

Our people are there in Brussels too. Europe is us not them.
