CHAIR of the Forest Dean Motorcycle Club, Mike Hook has organised a new twist to fund-raising for local riders and is urging them to take up his challenge.
"It's different and possibly unique," he says. "In past years we have picked a day to organise a charity rideout collecting a donation from each rider, but with the great British weather many have ended up as a virtual wash-out.
"This year I have come up with something a little different. We have mapped a route through the Forest and Wye valley of about 70 miles using A and B roads for riders in which speed limits have to be scrupulously observed.
"I rode this route and recorded my time down to the second. The time is now in a sealed envelope.
"Throughout the summer (to October 6) anybody and everybody is invited to ride this same route and record their time and register it with the club for a charity donation of £5."
On October 28 the time closest to the preset time will win £50.
All details are on the club website http://www.freewebs.co/">www.freewebs.co/ fodmcc together with the list of motorcycle dealerships who will accept entries.
"Please put your £5 donation in an envelope, seal it then write your recorded time to the second along with your contact details on the outside and either drop it to us at the FODMCC or put it in the box provided at your nearest participating dealership," says Mike.
All proceeds are to be split between two charities: the Midlands Air Ambulance and the National Association for Bikers with Disabilities.
