BIRDLOVERS with the gift of the gab are being invited to join the team of volunteers keeping a watch over the famous peregrine falcons at Symonds Yat.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds is looking for helpers to point out the birds of prey and give details of other wildlife in the area.

Peregrines returned to Symonds Yat in 1982 and since then they have successfully reared 40 young. The Rock's most recent pair have bred together for at least six years and last year raised four young birds.

The birds attract thousands of visitors who can enjoy some spectacular views of the falcons. There are regular groups of local school children as well as RSPB members and holiday-makers.

Volunteers are needed from now until September and times can be arranged ato suit. Full training is given.

The Rock birds are already incubating a clutch of eggs.
