SUZANNE Turley's daffodils have taken it into their heads that a springtime flowering just wasn't enough and have decided to embark on a second coming.
Mrs Turley of Poolway Road, Broadwell, says the spring bloom went fine and then her daffodils did what they normally do – go to earth in her tubs below the busy lizzies and French marigolds.
But then something strange happened.
Mrs Turley explains: "About seven weeks ago a shoot appeared and then more. I just thought they were plants I didn't know about. But as they grew it was obvious they were daffodils. My husband said: 'that can't be' and a former neighbour and keen gardener was absolutely blown away.
"But they're not quite right. Not perfect, with little petals and little trumpets. They keep trying to open but haven't quite managed it.
"It's as if they're saying 'eh up, we shouldn't be up yet'."
