There were three four by fours parked and a lot of gunfire, obviously rabbit or pheasant shooting on the Bledisloe Estate land (dock-side).
I could see something running very fast across the top of the field and thought it was a dog, however as we got closer it was clear to see a boar, terrified and trying to run away from the gunfire. When it spotted my dog and myself it ran away very very quickly, still frightened.
It ran through the fields towards Lydney station.
It was only a couple of days after this that I also saw the digging of the boar on the marshland. You can also see its footprints. There is also evidence of a boar in the field adjacent to the old Lydney Golf Course.
I would like to finally add: This boar is not out to get you or your dog, or anything else. It was frightened away from possibly its pack.
Leave it alone and it will leave you alone, and remember, it digs to eat and survive, not to annoy us.
