I WONDER why  Cllr Leppington and the other councillors don’t arrange a referendum to clarify once and for all just how many people in the Forest want to  see the wild boar eradicated (or not).

This would be confined to the villages and  towns actually in the Forest ie: not Monmouth, Gloucester etc where they don’t cause any damage.

If ‘cost’ is the reason for this not being done, I can’t believe it after the thousands of pounds that were spent giving the bats a nice comfortable home in the Northern Quarter.

But perhaps an easier way would be for Mr Stannard  (who seems to be the one who decides how many to cull) to visit the local ‘hostelries’ and ask the question.

I am sure he would get a very good answer.

I would also like to know if the wild boar have been around  the home of Joyce Moss of Lydney rooting up her grass? (Letters, January 15).

I would like also to endorse the letters (on gas) from Dave Tuffley and Ian  Peters which, to me, made a lot of sense.
