SEVERN Area Rescue Association (SARA) found the body of a woman on Sunday, as members searched for missing Lydney woman Joanne Moller, aged 51.

A spokesperson from Gloucestershire Police said: “The discovery was made by SARA yesterday evening. Formal identification of the body is yet to take place but Joanne’s family have been told.

“We worked with other agencies including SARA to search an area of woodland near and around Woolaston Common for Joanne.”

Richard Newhouse, from SARA, said: “We had a large land search team out on Friday from 8pm until the early hours of Saturday morning and then resumed at 11am on Saturday.

“SARA Beachley team plus teams from SARA Tewkesbury, Newport and Wyre Forest and south Wales Search and Rescue Dogs Association teams were involved.  It was a methodical and challenging search of a sloping, wooded and in places very overgrown area.  Our thoughts are with the family.”

Joanne Moller was last seen late on Thursday, 26 January.
