A BODY discovered in sand dunes in Porthcawl, south Wales is believed to be that of Beachley pensioner Eddie Wise, who went missing in the area in the summer.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “Recovery has taken place and enquiries are ongoing to identify the body. Officers have informed the family of 74-year-old Eddie Wise.”

Eddie, who was the caretaker at Tutshill School for many years, was known to be a keen rambler. His car was discovered in a car park close to the Merthyr Mawr sand dunes on July 31, two weeks after he disappeared, and officers searched the area.
