POLICE are probing the death of a man whose body was found in a burnt out car at the weekend.

The shock discovery happened around 10.30pm at the entrance to Oak Quarry recycling centre near Broadwell, just yards off the B4226 Speech House Road.

Officers say they know the identity of the man, who they believe to be in his 30s, but are yet to formally identify him.

Emergency services rushed to reports of the silver-coloured vehicle ablaze on Saturday night (March 3) on the Cannop to Broadwell road, but the man was already dead.

Theories that the vehicle might have been involved in a road accident have been ruled out by police.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said they were treating the incident as "unexplained" but "not suspicious".

They have appealed for anyone who travelled along Speech House Road on Saturday night who may have seen the silver-coloured car.

Anyone with information is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 or email [email protected] quoting incident 438 of 3 March.
