TEENAGER Libby Hollies was inspired to have her cut for charity after reading a book.

Libby donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for children affected by cancer.

It's the first time that the 13-year-old can remember having hair above her shoulders.

She was inspired to have the cut after reading The Fault in our Stars, a story about a 16-year-old girl who has cancer.

Libby who lives at Boughspring, Tidenham had the cut at Bradley's salon in Chepstow on Saturday afternoon where stylist Kelly Davies wielded the scissors.

She was joined by mum Lindsay and friend Isobel Gittings who provided moral support for the cut.

When the cut was complete Libby, a Year Nine student at Wyedean School in Sedbury, said: "It feels weird."

Mrs Hollies said: "She read The Fault in our Stars and it had such an impact she decided she wanted to do something.

"She arranged everything with the Little Princess Trust – the first we knew about it was when she brought the parental consent form.

"The school has been very supportive and she's already collected £200 and there is another £100 in pledges."
