POET and writer, David Holmes, based in Lydney, has been asked to supply battlefield specialists Leger, with one of his poems and a short synopsis of his journey to the Western Front for their September 2011 news letter.
The newsletter, sent to 10,000 people across the UK, will highlight David's first book of poems, words and images.
The book entitled 'For John, Winston and of course Harry.' follows David's journey along the Western Front, to find out more about his grandfather, John Holmes and his experience of the war. As well as poetry there is a detailed account of the war records of his Grandfather's battalion, the 1st/5 Leicester's.
The book also includes two poems, written as a result of David's meeting the last Tommy, the late Harry Patch.
•The book will be available from Amazon and via the Lydney Poppy Appeal Shop, during late October and early November.
