I WOULD like to congratulate the Forest of Dean Lions Club on their splendid car boot sale at the Speech House on Bank Holiday Monday.

My family and I were very surprised at the huge number of Foresters who turned up and also the numerous stalls in attendance. The car parking was organised and very well executed and, before the hailstones, there was a fantastic feeling of community.

It was such a pity that the heavens opened and we were all frozen with an inch of hailstones.

Whilst trying to take cover with a large group of locals we all came to the conclusion that the Lions Club should make this a regular occurance. Giving us Foresters somewhere to go on a Sunday afternoon (without having to pay £3 parking like at Beechenhurst, Symonds Yat and even Mallards Pike), pick up a bargain and chat with fellow locals.

The Lions club will also be raising important funds for local charities. It's a win/win situation.
