TRAFFIC was brought to a standstill after a collision involving a bus near a primary school.
The incident saw a Newport Bus vehicle collide with a wall and a car around 3pm last Wednesday (January 15) near Thornwell Primary School in Bulwark, Chepstow.
Thornwell Road was closed for more than four and a half hours while arrangements were made to remove the bus.
A woman posted on the Chepstow Community Facebook page: “The bus driver said that something happened with the brakes and the bus went on its own.
“I spoke to him as I walked past on the school run, he seemed a bit shaken,” she added.
A Gwent Police spo- kesperson said: “At around 2.55pm, we received reports that a bus had mounted a pavement and collided with a garden wall in Thornwell Road in Chepstow.
“There was one passenger on board at the time of the collision and no injuries have been reported,” they added.
“The road was clo-sed for a number of hours while the recovery of the bus took place, and was re-opened at around 7.30pm.”
