BREAM could be the sleeping giants of the local football scene. Once a well known and highly competitive Northern Senior League side they fell from grace when they lost their ground many years ago.
But hopes are high they could be on the way back.
"We are doing quite well on the field but we need to make some improvements to our ground," explained club spokesman Ian Hill.
The club is considering several fund-raising avenues and there is a possibility of seeking a lottery grant, he explained.
Since their fall from the Senior League, Bream have hovered round and about the top leagues in North Gloucester.
This season they are well placed in second spot in Division One – Aylburton are ahead of them and neighbouring Sling just a place behind.
Bream did themselves no harm with a hard-fought victory over Sling last week.
"It was a typical derby at Sling where it is always difficult to win. All the goals came in the first half. John Virgin scored for Sling but they conceded an own goal and then Simon Phelps scored our winner," said Hill.
Bream's second string are doing well in Division Four and with strength in depth the hope is promotion to the premier division.
"If all went well and we can carry out our ground improvements we could be in the Senior League in a couple of years," said Hill.
