A PROJECT to brighten up Caldicot town centre was completed on Saturday (July 28) as volunteers filled more than 50 planters with colourful flowers.
Caldicot Community Working Together, which was set up as a Facebook page some five months ago, brought the volunteers together.
Founder Rachel Furmage said: “Caldicot Community Working Together is about bringing people together to support the town.
“We did an online poll asking people what we should do and brightening up the town centre came out tops.
“We’ve had a huge amount of help from local companies with discounts and particularly Crownhill Nurseries who gave us a huge amount of soil for the planters and their van for the day.”
Town centre businesses also chipped in with a range of refreshments for the hard-working volunteers including breakfast rolls, cakes and bottles of water to keep them going.
The 53 planters, all made locally, have been positioned around the town centre.
Volunteers spent several hours on Saturday filling the planters with a variety of colourful plants.
Caldicot Community Working Together is now working on a project for the Christmas period which it is hoped will draw visitors..
