CHILDREN across the Forest and Wye Valley dressed up as their favourite book characters to celebrate World Book Day.

Pupils at Coalway Junior School welcomed Forest author Shoo Rayner who talked to them about how he creates his whacky characters.

They also had a visit from a Gloucestershire mobile library and were able to pick books for themselves.

Staff at Woolaston Primary School donned stripy tops to become the title character from the Where's Wally series of books.
