THIS was a slaughter. Gutsy Tidenham were outgunned by Broadwell and on another day the score might easily have reached double figures.

We created chance after chance but didn't take them. In reality we were far too good for them," reflected Broadwell manager Neil Walding.

Now in his second term as boss at Broadwell, Walding says he has high hopes of retaining the County Cup for a second season while nursing a burning ambition for his team to step up a grade from Northern Senior League 1.

"We are good enough, and I will be very disappointed if we don't go up. We have an excellent squad and we have made a promising start," says Walding.

Two league wins from two starts and a good run in the Reg Davis Cup competition, has given Walding all the encouragement he needs to predict a highly successful season fir his team.

Strong in every department, they are particularly potent up front where strikers Mathew Foxwell and Steve Belfitt have already scored seven apiece.

Both found the back of the net in Saturday's convincing cup win while Chris Powell and Mark Allen also scored.

Walding will be hoping his top scorers will be in tip-top form on Saturday when Broadwell return to league action and travel to Tetbury – a ground where it is notoriously difficult to win.

Walding also praised Tidenham's performance and especially that of their goalkeeper who enjoyed a fine game.
