THE wet and cool conditions failed to dampen enthusiasm for the latest round of the Forest of Dean area team championships.
Lightmoor produced a tight finish overall as Keith Hull (Iffers Yellow) failed to hold off Wye Angling captain Tony Summer's late winning surge. Keith had a storming start taking carp after carp on the method feeder from peg 15. However Tony who lives in Brockweir, kept working hard at his margin swim until the big carp eventually turned up to seal top spot with an impressive 78lbs.
The venue fished well throughout and is a testament to the hard work carried out by the Forest of Dean club's fishery management team. The 20 anglers pegged at Lightmoor took over 650lbs to the scales, for what is the best match ever recorded at this beautiful Forest location.
On the team front, Iffers red came out on top for the day with 35 points. Another solid performance from reigning champions Wye Angling, means they now lead the table, but by just one point. Early leaders, Glory Boys had a bad day and drop to third overall.
Fourteen year old Sam Prosser of Iffer's Red and Wye Angling captain, Tony Summers, are the only anglers with two section wins to their name which places them at the top of the Individual league.
