MEMBERS of Brockweir Knit and Stitch group and other local people, have been busy for a year creating a wall hanging to go in Brockweir Village Shop.

The wall hanging is based on a map of the village, and the fields are represented by knitting, woodland is represented by rag rugging, and some of the key buildings in the village are shown and worked in applique.

The design was created by Chrissy Birch, who also project managed the work. The wall hanging measures 2m x 2.5 m and the design was divided up into smaller shapes which were then worked individually.

Some people did a lot of work, or very large pieces, others just small amounts, but about 20 people eventually took part. A core group of Anne Downes, Chrissy Birch, Gaynor McCarthy, Susie Baynes, Sally Secrett, and Sue Watson then assembled the pieces.

Now some cards are to be printed showing the wall hanging and the funds created by the sale of these will help to support the Village Shop.

There will also be a little book made in the near future to show how it was made and who took part.
