IN no way was the Burma Star Association forgotten at the unveiling ceremony of the "Memorial to the Fallen" at Coleford Clock Tower.
As the person in charge of the proceedings, I made it my responsibility that all were made welcome by personally thanking the band, choir, BSA, RAF, chairman of RBL, Gloucester county and many others.
The mayor, in her opening address, thanked all assembled at the Clock Tower for turning out on such a cold evening.
Len Knight, standard bearer of BSA, along with 11 other bearers, was thanked by me for being on parade.
My last duty of the evening was to recite the Kotumo Epitaph, known as the BSA Homage.
Later in the town council offices where all those who had participated were invited for refreshments, I was personally thanked by members of the BSA, including standard bearer Len Knight for the Kotumo Epitaph.
They may have been "forgotten" in the Burma Campaign but not on the evening of March 3, 2000.
"We will remember them." – J.N. Jones, vice chairman, Coleford & District Royal British Legion.
