A BURST water pipe was to blame for a sudden road closure in Cinderford on Monday morning (October 10) – however it’s not known when it will reopen.

Severn Trent said parts of St White’s Road are open for access only while workmen tackle the leak between junctions for Westerley Close and Woodside Avenue.

‘Road ahead closed’ signs were placed at the bottom of the road at the former Bridge Inn at Valley Road and the roundabout to the Sneyd Wood housing development, near Abbots Road.

A spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry about the lack of warning to locals about the road closure but there have been some safety issues that have meant a delay in repairing the leak, so, when we were able to close the road, we had to act quickly to allow work to start.

“Our priority is fixing the pipe and re-opening the road as quickly as possible, and we’d like to apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate local people’s patience while we carry out this vital repair.”

The road was still shut when the Review went to press.
