THE Forest of Dean Sea Cadets are raising money to put up a six foot fence around their meeting room to deter vandals and increase their visibility in the community.
Around 40 cadets meet at the Naas Lane venue on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and organisers say an average of two new cadets are recruited every week.
Spokesman Mike Chard said: "This number of recruits will leave us short of space, but we cannot turn youngsters away.
"Our aim is to help young people towards responsible adulthood by encouraging valuable personal attributes and high standards of conduct using a nautical theme based on the customs of the Royal Navy.
"Through adventurous activities cadets become self reliant and through team work cadets develop consideration and respect for others.
"The Corps encourages high personal standards and a sense of purpose and provides a sound foundation for future careers."
The group is looking for more adult volunteers to help cater for the increasing numbers of young people who want to join.
The cadets will be packing bags at Tesco in Lydney on Saturday to raise money for the club.
