A LITTLE bit of interesting information came our way the other day.
In 1941 a German airman was captured outside where we live, Marefold, Gorsty Knoll, Milkwall. Coal was being delivered from a lorry when the coal man noticed a pair of legs lying under the lorry.
He went round the other side of his lorry and found the rest of the person lying there. He helped up the German airman who promptly undid his holster and handed the coal man his revolver.
They went into the house where 'Granny' Fowler gave him a fried breakfast of bacon and eggs.
Afterwards the coalman drove the airman down to Coleford police station.
Other members of the crew came down at Parkend and Breckness Court. It would be interesting to find any other information to flesh out the events.
