A CAR driver had a lucky escape after his vehicle was hit by sheets of polystyrene flying off a lorry travelling on the opposite carriageway.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident on the B4215 at Highnam on Wednesday (July 4).

The large lorry, believed to be open-sided, was travelling towards the Forest of Dean at about 2.20pm when several sheets of polystyrene became dislodged and flew across the carriageway. The load hit the offside of a silver Volkswagen Passat heading towards Gloucester.

"If you witnessed the incident or are the driver of the lorry please call 101, quoting incident 254 of July 4," say police.
