IT may not have been the sunniest summer day but that didn't stop the people of Caldicot enjoying themselves at the annual carnival on Sunday.

The carnival, held at Caldicot Castle Country Park and organised by the Caldicot Events Committee, attracted hundreds of fun-seekers.

Many local organisations were represented at the carnival with members of Caldicot Motorcycle Club performing stunts in the arena.

There was free tea and coffee from members of Bethany Baptist Church, the chance to win tickets for Caldicot Musical Theatre's youth production of Les Miserables in October.

Among the visitors to the carnival were a group from Caldicot's French twin town Morieres les Avignon.

Former Caldicot mayor, Cllr Maria Stevens said: "The carnival is a really community event and our visitors have enjoyed it.

"They have also had a tour around the new Dewstow School, met young people at The Zone (youth centre) and visited the Millennium Stadium."
