One of the UK’s most prestigious archery competitions will be staged next month at Caldicot Castle. The Archery GB National Tour Finals will take place on Saturday and Sunday September 28 and 29.

The historic setting will be transformed into a head-to-head archery arena with the free event running in the same format as the Olympic and Paralympic Game.

There will also be the opportunity for visitors to have a go at archery along with many other family activities throughout the day.

It is also the perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the tranquil gardens and wooded country park that surrounds the castle – with the medieval towers offering breath-taking views of the parklands and surrounding area from the battlements.

The event partnership between MonLife, a service group managed by Monmouthshire County Council, Archery GB and Starling Bank was marked with a special preview event in the castle grounds.

Neil Armitage, Archery GB’s CEO said: “Caldicot Castle is such a fantastic location and will provide a spectacular setting for our modern format. We expect a close race for the finals on the back of a hugely successful international campaign - with six Olympic and five Paralympic quota places already secured for Tokyo, along with numerous international titles from world and European events.”

The best of British archery talent will be competing for the honour of becoming Archery GB’s National Champions. There will be 32 senior competitors taking part in four different archery competitions across the two-day event. In addition, the Key Event Finals will allow Britain’s best junior archers to take centre stage. Gates open at 10.30am.
